Investigative Technician


Information Discovery Services LLC (IDS) is seeking an Investigative Technician for our contracts. The position is remote and can be located anywhere in the continental US. The Investigative Technician’s goal is to ensure a quality product is provided to the customers promptly. The Investigative Technician will conduct public trust pre-employment background investigations by telephone, focusing on providing a quality case report to the IDS customer in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review case papers.
  • Conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, personal references, employers, and associates to establish the subject's reputation, character, and qualifications.
  • Write clear, concise reports.
  • Provide any required corrections within 48 hours of request.
  • Prioritize casework.
  • Monitor pending cases to ensure compliance with the ACD date.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to strict case completion guidelines
  • Quality of cases completed (number of errors).
  • Performance levels, including internal and external job satisfaction.
  • Willingness to engage and become educated in new topics and business.
  • Support and encourage growth for the business and team.

Requirements include:

  • Education – High School Diploma with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in background investigations or law enforcement investigations preferred.
  • Administrative – Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
  • Interpersonal –Must possess human skills enabling effective interaction with employees, customers, and public sources and providers from various backgrounds.
  • Organizational – Organization skills are key; one must be able to manage a large caseload and document the progress of each case while maintaining defined timeliness parameters.
  • Analytical – Excellent writing and computer competency skills. Ability to plan and solve problems.
  • Communication – Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to listen and follow through on requests. Exceptional telephone etiquette and professionalism.
  • Physical Requirements – Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time. Moderate lifting.
